Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
Choosing the right lesson program is an important first step. Here are answers to a few common questions about riding at White Winds Farm.
-
Most students ride one to three times per week. We recommend at least one lesson per week to build consistency, reinforce new skills, and make steady progress. Lessons take place at every scheduled time unless weather prevents. If you have any questions about whether or not a scheduled lesson will take place, please call or text to make sure! Don’t forget to reschedule any lessons that are cancelled by weather before the end of the month.
-
No. White Winds Farm has school horses available for lessons, with horse assignments based on each rider's size, experience, and individual needs. Students are also welcome to bring their own horses for instruction.
-
Lessons generally proceed as scheduled unless weather conditions make riding unsafe. If the farm cancels an individual lesson, a make-up lesson may be arranged according to our cancellation and make-up policies. Please review our Lesson Information page for full details.
-
If a student is willing to invest the time, energy, funds, and commitment into doing so, we fully support those who wish to compete! We’ve had many students successfully compete at myriad events over the years. We are conveniently located just 1 mile from the Carolina Horse Park and within easy driving distance of multiple other venues where events are regularly held.
-
Wear long pants and sturdy riding boots with a defined heel. An ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet is required, and loaner helmets are available. Please review our Lesson Information page for complete attire guidelines and arrival instructions.
